Poi Balls
Few, if any of the arts of the Māori appeal more than the graceful movements of the poi. Other action songs have their equivalent elsewhere in Polynesia, but the poi is distinctive to New Zealand. “Poi” is the Māori word for “ball” attached to a cord. It originated with the Māori people of New Zealand, where it is still practiced today. Traditionally, poi was used to increase flexibility and strength in their hands and arms, as well as improving coordination. Today, women perform the Māori poi in dance.
Various color combinations. Sold in pairs.
