Mo'olelo Kāhuli Workshop
Come and learn the tale of the Kāhuli (tree snail) and the Kolea (Pacific Golden-plover) as told through the hula. Keiki (children) will bring the mo'olelo (story) to life through a hula noho (dance in a sitting position), then recreate the characters in a paper art craft.

About The Event
Mo'olelo Kāhuli Workshop
$10 per person; all materials included. For ages 4-8.
Tuesdays 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Learn about native Hawaiian plants, their uses, and the multi-colored dyes they produce. Create your own kapa-inspired culturaCome and learn the tale of the Kāhuli (tree snail) and the Kolea (Pacific Golden-plover) as told through the hula. Keiki (children) will bring the mo'olelo (story) to life through a hula noho (dance in a sitting position), then recreate the characters in a paper art craft. In this formative activity, children will learn how the hula is used to communicate the oral literature of Hawaii's unique stories. A finished art piece enriches the understanding of hula and mo'olelo. It's an educational experience your keiki will surely enjoy.
The workshop will be held at our learning center in Waimea.
